Blast near PVR in Delhi's Prashant Vihar triggers panic, investigation underway

An explosion was reported near PVR Cinemas in Prashant Vihar, Delhi, on Thursday morning, sending shockwaves through the area. The incident comes just over a month after a similar blast had caused panic in the same locality. According to reports, the Delhi Fire Service received a call about the explosion at 11:48 AM. Emergency services, including fire tenders, were promptly dispatched to the site.

Security agencies, including the Delhi Police Crime Branch, Special Cell, and Bomb Disposal Squad, quickly reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Initial investigations suggest the blast might have been caused by a crude bomb. However, further details are awaited as forensic experts collect samples from the scene.

Witnesses described the loud sound of the explosion, which was reportedly heard several hundred meters away. Nearby vehicles and shops sustained damage, with shattered windowpanes and debris visible at the site. Authorities are examining CCTV footage to determine the sequence of events and identify possible suspects.

This incident comes on the heels of a blast last month in the same locality, where a strong explosion at a CRPF school had triggered city-wide panic. At that time, investigations revealed that the cause of the blast was likely an industrial waste reaction triggered by burning cigarette butts.

No casualties have been reported in the current explosion. However, heightened security measures have been implemented across the city. Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) are monitoring the developments closely.
